Sparc: a creative place is a visual arts studio, learning space and retail gallery situated in downtown Anchorage. It cultivates the vision of The Arc of Anchorage: To be a community that recognizes and embraces people of all abilities. Artists experience a professional studio space with dedicated facilities for ceramics, stained glass, painting, beading, printmaking, and more. The program curriculum celebrates self-expression through creativity, promotes independent living and life skills, encourages social enterprise, and individualizes portfolio development. Participants gain involvement within the greater art community, and collaborate with other galleries, artists, and retail spaces.

Professional art staff are available to provide an array of support based on the individual needs of each artist. From hand-over-hand support to helping an individual apply for shows outside of Sparc, our staff meets the needs of individuals of all abilities. Sparc not only assists the artists in realizing their individual creations, but also provides a retail gallery where the artists who experience disabilities can take part in displaying and selling their own work.
